What have you guys found to be the most economical insurance company for the Pantera. I figure I will drive the car a couple of thousand miles a year and am looking for some kind of limited mileage classic car insurance. I checked with my existing insurance company (one of the largest companies) and he had no idea what a Pantera was.

I use J.C. Taylor, but it depends if they're licensed in your state. You might look through Hemmings. I also noticed that Barrett-Jackson was sponsored by a classic car insurance company.

I have used Great American Insurance since 1998 and have been pleased with their service and pricing. Try: http://www.classiccollectors.com/ for information. My policy has a 3,000 mile per year limitation which is in no danger at this point!

I use Hagerty, my premium is $270. This can be reduced by using classic plates by $80. I am not sure if this applies in all states. I am in MI. I have a 5000 mi/yr. limit and for an additional fee of 10 bucks I get carrier survice if I need it. My car is modified and they insure it as a nonmodified, eventhough they have pictues of the engine.

I would HIGHLY recommend Hagerty insurance they're premiums are low and I can tell you from experience that they value your car for what its worth, you give them the pictures and receipts and they will evaluate it fairly
GOOD LUCK!!!!

I added my '72 to my State Farm policies, under their 'classic' rating. Gave them A LOT of documentation, had it professionally appraised, and stated the value as $45K. Cost of $460, annual.

Last October, after 11 months of ownership, I managed to demonstate the dangers of trailing throttle oversteer, turning on a downwards graded corner, and entering a corner way too hot. End result? State Farm trailered my dented beauty 260 miles down to Don Byars and wrote out $34K in checks. And no, I have not been cancelled - or had my rates increased. YMMV.

Larry

I'm using Hagerty. They are reasonable and they will insure to an agreed upon value.

In certain states they will not insure a modified car. I'm not sure of their modified definition but they wouldn't insure my brother when he answered yes to "modified" and told them he had a 500HP engine in his 1970 Mustang.

I live out in Hawaii. None of the companies listed did business here. I found one company, Grundy Worldwide that did.
(800) 338-4005 or get an online quote at their website: http://www.grundy.com/

I use Grundy--$275/yr, with an agreed valvue of $35K. They say they want you to do no more than 5000 miles a year, but no one checks the mileage (and I'm not in danger of that). They want it to be used for car club events, and weekend cruising, not as your daily driver (like all collector car insurance policies).
