The DeTomaso factory is continuing to create the Guara for European consumption. Sadly, there are no plans to bring the car to the U.S. at this time. Recent changes in U.S. law do permit an enthusiast to import a car such as this under very stringent circumstances.

In recent discussions with the DeTomaso factory, PI has strongly advocated Federalizing this car for our market. We believe that there would be buyers willing to purchase this 4.6 DOHC Ford powered exotic.

At the left, the car is shown in convertible, coupe and Barchetta configurations.

The interior is a far cry from the Pantera. The transmission is a 6 speed Getrag. Horsepower is rated at 305 at 6,500 rpm. The engine uses 4 overhead camshafts with 4 valves per cylinder and hydraulic lifters. Fuel delivery is addressed by an electronic multipoint sequential EFI system. The tires are Michelin 245/40 ZR 18 MXX3TL in the front and 285/35 ZR18 MXX3TL in the rear. The magnesium wheels wearing the Isis logo measure 8.5 x 18 inches in the front and 10.5 X 18 inches in the rear. The weight of the car is 1400 kg for the coupe and 1050 for the Barchetta.

The biggest change is the new front hood which incorporates deep exhausts for the front mounted radiator. It reminds us a lot of the Ford GT40.

The independent suspension uses push rods with torsion bars and adjustable vibration dampers. The body is constructed from fiberglass and composites.

Our thanks to the DeTomaso factory for the photographs and up to date information on this new car.

This GT car uses a central backbone chassis (spine-frame) made from honey-comb and integrated with the rear suspension structures. The front portion of the body houses an energy absorbing steel frame for passenger protection.
